This is an Airline 62-1, yeah, "1". It has a 1931 vintage. The cabinet finish is original except for touchup of the top (it was not stripped).
The radio has several unusual characteristics. Most noticeable are the "carvings". These are not repwood. They, and even the dial escutcheon are real wood probably pressure/steam formed, but that is just a guess. It also had a back cover. The antenna wire is the 3rd conductor in the power cable, but about 10 ft. longer.
The second item is what must have been the correction of a production mistake. The audio interstage transformer is mounted to the speaker, while the output transformer is mounted on the chassis. They corrected the defect by running two cables to the speaker, one, in and out of the interstage and another back to the speaker for final audio and field coil. I'll bet somebody lost his job over that one.
Anyway, you don't see these often.

They should have built it with 3 knobs.
The radio had been "fixed" before. At least it was electrical tape not "DUCK" tape!
