This is a big one. Top of the line when it was built. I did not want to get it - but sue said it would look nice in the living room(!! smiley face here!!)
Look at all of that surface area. It looks good, but somebody did a job on the top. So it is going to need to be refinished.

Look at this chassis. It had been rebuilt by what must have been a Philco service shop. All of the parts are Philco brand. It has a complete set of Philco replacement tubes (ST type) also. This was pretty nice work. I considered leaving it this way - well restuffing the replacement caps, but, just could not do it. Back to factory!
AAH! Much better. Nice clean chassis too.
Rebuilt Mershon caps, nickel over copper. These are now 8uf at 630 volt film NP caps rather than 6uf at 450 - 500 volts (original spec.) They should last a long time.

Toner, sealer, grain filler and the first coats of lacquer applied. Still a ways to go.
The speaker trim will go back in place next.
